The REASON

This Christmas season, as I prepare for time to worship and celebrate the birth of Jesus, I have enjoyed an Advent bible study. A question in the study was asked: “Why do you think God sent Jesus to the world?”

The first thought that may cross your mind is Jesus was born to save us from our sins in this broken world. That answer is correct BUT, there is a BIGGER reason that God sent Jesus to the world. God sent His one and only Son to show HIS love for us, in this broken world.

God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him. Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1 John 4:9-10

Agape love is the unconditional love from God. This is the highest level of love in the world. God’s plan has always been to show each and everyone one of us agape love, even in our brokenness. Grace. Mercy.

We are called to be ambassadors of God’s love. Take time to reflect on God’s love, grace, and blessings in your life as you celebrate Jesus’ birth this Christmas. Do you know the unchanging, eternal love of God through Jesus? If so, how can you share that love with others this Christmas season?

This may not be a gift that you can wrap and put under the tree. This may not be a gift that you can buy. However, this may be a gift that lasts forever as a memory. This may be being present with somebody and sharing time with them; sharing joy; or sharing sorrow. Time is precious, like Jesus. May each of you and your families and friends have a blessed Christmas this year as you bless others. Merry Christmas!!!
